We are NEVER going sledding again!!!!

So remember the post on the 29th about me not liking Christian far away......Well, let me tell you about my experience!

On Friday the 29th Emalee stayed over at our friend's house. She had invited her to go sledding with them up in Heber. I said sure , no prob!! So they invited me and the other 2 kids to go. I thought it would be so much fun!!! Snowmobile's, sledding, a cabin, good company. What more could you want??? wait....

So the kids get all ready and head out on the snow mobile's. I stayed in the cabin with Reagan because she was scared to go on one and it was too cold. Not to mention I didn't have snow clothes or shoes for myself.

So they were gone maybe 1/2 hr or so. Dave brought Emalee back and she looked scared.

So here is the story from what Emalee remembers. No one actually saw it happen......

Emalee was going on her bellie down the hill. She said it was bumpy and it she turned a bit. This other boy was being pulled up the hill by an ATV and they collided...the boy, not the atv.

So Dave brought her in the cabin and we looked at her bellie. NO bruises or cuts. He touches it and she said it hurts really bad. So he said he'd be back because he had to get everyone else from the hill. I told him to make it back by 1/2 hr.

I sat with Emalee and held her hand and rubbed her back. She was laying on the couch. She didn't cry until I told her that it was ok. That's all it took. She was in terrible pain and was screaming and yelling. I couldn't handle it. I started to cry. I didn't know what to do. There was NO cell service. I had to wait for Dave to get back. It was the longest 1/2 hr of my life.

He got back and we left as soon as we could get the other kids ready. We drove to the ER there in Heber but they were IHC and we have CIgna so the cost would have been huge.
We drove the 40 minutes to Orem to Timpanogas Hospital. They were not busy and took her in right away. They did a CT scan and the result was Liver Damage. I started to cry. They said they had to take her by Life Flight (helicopter) and take her to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake.
I was so upset. Here Christian is in frickin Myanmar on the ocean. No phone or internet. They took her and I went home and got some stuff for her. Arranged for our friends to stay there with Jimmy & Reagan. I had a million things going on in my mind to get done and then I left for the night to be with my little girl.
She was so brave. After they gave her some morphine for the pain she was so brave and never cried again. Of course I did.

I finally got the ER and my SIL and BIL were there with her. They said that she had a Level 3 liver Laceration and a bruised kidney. There is no treatment and she would have to be in the PICU for 24 hrs while they observed her and they took her blood count. If it stayed the same it meant that her liver was not bleeding anymore and she would be fine. Mike and our bishop who came up gave her a blessing.

Christian's boss finally got ahold of him by ways of calling so and so and so and so. He called me about 7:30 pm and Dave had filled him in. He would be on the next plane but it would take time. He wasn't in the next state, he was in the Ocean!!!

Emalee was moved from the PICU the next afternoon and she was doing great! I think the worst part of the hospital stay was our roomate there. He was in such pain and wouldn't shut up!!

When we got a regular room the nurses were so great! She was at a kid's hospital. they had everything you would want. XBOX, game cube, etc etc. She had crayons, markers and movies! She had room service when she wanted it.

Saren & Mike had Jimmy & Reagan the next morning until the next night. They did so great over there!!

By Monday afternoon I had my husband home and my In Laws here!! My FIL stayed the night so Christian and I could sleep. I got NO sleep in the PICU. I was so exhausted!! The next night though I did sleep.

So Emalee was released on Tuesday afternoon and she was so happy to be home. She is on bedrest for 3 weeks and no school but that's ok. Her liver will be fine and so will she!!

She's been blessed by people caring and praying for her!!!

It was an awful few days but it's over now and she's fine!!!! I was so scared as was Christian!!
No one wants to go through something like this with their child!!
